Saltwater Tank

We are so excited because we got a saltwater tank. Tye and I have been thinking about it for awhile now and two weeks ago decided to get it. We actually got pretty lucky because when you get a saltwater tank you have to let it "cycle" for a couple months before you can put anything in it. Tye's friend Chase had a saltwater tank and was selling alot of his stuff so we were able to buy his fish, live rock and corals at a much better price than we could have at Mr. Aquarium and since his tank is cycled we could go ahead and put fish in it. We decided to put it in the living room on the right side of the fire place and Tye modified the cabinets so the tank would fit. It looks soooo cool, I find myself starring at the fish instead of watching t.v. Our plan is to get more fish but we want to make this a hobby of ours so we are going to do everything in stages instead of just buy everything at once. You can sort of see our coral in this picture. It's kind of crazy because we have to feed our coral just like we do the fish (I didn't realize that coral were alive like that, they even eat shrimp)
Clown Fish, we call him Nemo:)
Blue Tang (like Dori on the movie Finding Nemo) & a Lawnmower Blenny
Sea Urchin (there is also a snail on the glass beside it)
Sea Cucumber
We also have 10 hermit crabs, 10 snails, a starfish and two shrimp. There job is to help keep the tank clean:)

  3. Sooo cool! We've always wanted to get a big tank...but we have not had luck with our tiny little table fish...so that's a bit out of our league!

The shelving looks way cool too :)
