December is finally here! The kids are always so excited when we finally reach the end of the year. They love December and all the things it brings. We made lots of memories this month and for the most part it was a month full of JOY, PEACE and LOVE.
I took Myles and Sydney to see the Nutcracker. They loved it and have already ask to go back to see it again next year. Myles loved the rat king and Sydney loved the sugar plum fairy. We missed the other half of our family but they were working hard trying to finish pulling cotton.
We have finished nearly half of our school year. The kids are doing wonderful and learning new things everyday. I am so thankful that I get to homeschool my kids. I truly am living a dream!
The kids went to Poppa and Honey’s house made and decorated ornaments with Honey. After supper, we all made gingerbread houses. It’s a fun tradition that we’ve done every year with them. The kids get better and better every year. I think next year I am going to get them a gingerbread city!
We try to have family movie night once a month. It’s such an easy simple thing but the kids love it. They always cheer and get excited when we tell them that tonight is THE night. We usually do a fun movie snack like popcorn, ice cream or hot chocolate. This particular night Tye hadn’t been done stripping for long and we were all together after weeks of being apart. I looked over at my family and thanked God once again for giving me everything I’ve always wanted.
Sydney wanted to hold Rusty’s paw and he didn’t mind.
Myles is so creative. He’s always making something out of paper, pipe cleaners and popsicle sticks. He has an ocean animal encyclopedia that he’s been looking through at night before he goes to bed and for some reason he’s been obsessed with lobsters lately. So, he decided to be a lobster for the day.
What will I do when someday he just acts normal and I don’t have to play along that my child is a creature of some sort?! I know...I’ll probably reminisce about the days that he did. Haha
Ayden looking so grown up in her Santa shirt that Kam Kam gave her.
Christmas Eve lunch with B and Shell and supper with Poppa and Honey. What a blessing to be able to see all the people we love in one day!
The kids making and dressing up snowmen. This was such a fun activity. It was a kit that came with “snow” and things to dress up a snowman. After you molded your mini snowman, you got to dress him or her up. The kids loved it.
Ryan was super pumped about his Alan Jackson t-shirt.
Myles doing what Myles does...making us laugh!
Sweet Mim and Grandaddy
I’m so very thankful that my kids have such a great relationship with their great-grandparents. They are wonderful role models to my kids.
Poppa and Myles
All the little snowmen that are currently decorating my house! They are so cute!
Two of my four favorite boys!
The Nutcracker was such a great show!
Sydney got an Easy Bake Oven from Poppa and Honey for Christmas. She was SO excited and proud of herself. She did a great job and her brownies were delicious!
I’m never, ever disappointed when I’m up early enough to to watch the sun come up. Our God is an awesome God.
Our chickens and ducks also brighten my life. I adore them and they adore us. They get so excited anytime we come outside and want to be right up under our feet!
Tye had a very rough stripping season this year. They had three fires and one of them was extremely scary. Tye’s basket caught on fire and if it had not been for his quick thinking his stripper could have burned to the ground. The kids were terrified when all they saw from across the field was their daddy’s stripper on fire. They thought he was still in it. The fire department had to be called and did a wonderful job. I’m so thankful for the Post Volunteer Fire Department. They went above and beyond what they had to do and even let Ayden, Ryan and Myles help finish spraying the cotton that was burning on the ground. I knew Tye was okay, but when he got home I was so thankful to be able to hug him. He’s okay, his stripper is okay and we are thankful it wasn’t worse. Tye even mustered a thumbs up!
I absolutely adore this man.
Mandy and Myles = BFF’s for life
Myles got a claw machine for Christmas. It was a hit!
Tye and I helped sponsor our first lock-in. This was Ayden's first time to stay up ALL NIGHT LONG. I didn’t expect to have so much fun that night. Scott, our youth minister, did a fantastic job and we will help again if given the opportunity. It was an absolute blast! We all three stayed up all night long. We won’t talk about how many days it took us to recover. Haha
Can you tell she was excited about getting a new camera?!
He’s also the best daddy.
Watching cotton burn is no fun. It’s okay though, some things can be replaced and some things can’t.
Myles and his buddy!
Another beautiful morning on the farm.
My favorite guys headed to hunt!
We love B and Shell!
Decorating ornaments at Poppa and Honey’s house.
The Mason Christmas at Mim and Grandaddy’s was a blast. These sweet cousins had the best time playing together.
Myles and Sydney made a hummingbird on Sydney’s Lite Brite.
Sweet Christmas babies!
Ryan got a big box to organize all of his knives. He was so excited!
Monopoly on Christmas Day with Poppa. He killed us and had zero mercy.
Slumber party and cookie decorating at B and Shell’s house!
Helping put out the cotton fire. Brent said that Myles was so cute and went around to get all the firemen’s autographs. They were happy to give it to him and he couldn’t wait to show me when he got home.
B and Shell took the kids out to eat, to look at Christmas lights and then to the Overton for some hot chocolate. Michelle said that the kids thought the Overton was so fancy and they started talking in British accents. I will say that in this moment...they take after their mother. I don’t know why but sometimes I just randomly talk in a weird accent. Hahaha, who knew that was genetic!
Santa, Santa HO HO HO
Poppa and Myles strategizing their gingerbread house.
Christmas morning was incredible this year. At one point, after I had been sitting in my chair for a good bit of time I looked over at Tye and said, “I think we’ve arrived.” Hahaha
In all seriousness, this Christmas was just so peaceful. We relaxed, we played games, everyone picked up after themselves (for the most part) and we watched Christmas movies. Every single year it gets more fun and I couldn’t be more thankful for THIS Christmas and all the peace, joy and love that it brought our family.
2021 is over and we are headed into a brand new year. I find myself making mental lists around this time every year. Things I’d like to do better, things I’d like to try, things I’m not going to do anymore, things I’m certainly going to do and so on...
I think it’s always good to reflect back on the past which is exactly was 2021 is at this point. It’s a sad and beautiful thing this life that we live. I’m torn between being sad that my kids are growing up and changing but then at the exact same time being so happy and thankful that they are. Hahaha, it’s an odd place to be and I’m certain everyone reading this knows exactly what I’m talking about. 2021 was a great year for us. There is no way to know what next year will hold for me and my family. All I know is that I’m ready. I take such comfort in knowing that I have a family that will be there every single step of the way. I take even greater comfort in knowing that the creator of the universe is with me. Every single minute of every single day. My biggest prayer for 2022 is that I am a LIGHT in a world of unknown darkness. That I’m a prayerful wife, mother and friend. I will strive to be this person every single day. Come on 2022, we are ready for ya!
