August, September and October

The last bit of summer we have held onto super tight.  We start back to school in August but we save our vacation with Poppa and Honey until September.  So, none of us truly believe it’s over until, well, it’s October. Hahaha

We celebrate a lot of big milestones in our family in August and September.  Tye and I celebrated our 16th anniversary this year.  We celebrated at a HOT, dusty shotgun shoot but if I’m being totally honest there is no where else I’d rather be.  Anywhere with them is good.

Myles Lew turned TEN years old on August 5th.  Two whole hands, ten little fingers and my heart aches and rejoices at the same time.  Motherhood is like that sometimes.  It’s like that a lot of times actually.  There isn’t a day that goes by (there have been some minutes..trust me haha) but not a day goes by that this boy isn’t just delightful in my eyes.  He’s so witty.  He is SOOO funny.  He is incredibly loving.  He is full of energy and knowledgable about all things animals.  He’s my mini-me.  Our favorite thing to do is watch National Geographic cuddled up in my chair.  We usually always get the living room to ourselves because no one else wants to watch with us.  Myles has brought us immense joy since the moment we laid eyes on him.  Always the easiest baby and still continues to be such a pleasant little boy.  We are proud that is ours and we get to see him grow up.  It’s easy loving Myles Lewis Mason!
Sydney is in 2nd grade this year.  She loves school and is very good at it.  Her favorite subject is history.
The birthday boy got donuts and a whole quart of chocolate milk.  You better believe he wrote his name on that jug.  I think he even spit in it to make EXTRA sure no one stole any.
Summer time means hoeing.  That job isn’t always fun.  Especially when dad makes you re-do a field that you should’ve done right the first time.  Oh well, you live and learn! Haha
Myles is in fourth grade this year!  He’s such a good student and his favorite subject is english.
Brothers
Ayden is an eighth grader this year!  UGH!  How did that happen so fast?  She is taking sign language this year for her first foreign language.  She is also taking Algebra 1.  I have helped her 0% in that class.  Why is it so hard?  Her favorite subject is history.
Ryan is in the 6th grade this year.  He is an incredible student and gets his work done quickly.  He is taking Spanish as his foreign language and can recite about 20 verses in Spanish already.  His favorite subject is Math.
Ready to go hunt some rascally rabbits with his brother!
Daddy taught Myles how to drive the pontoon boat this summer while Tye unhooks the anchor.  I’m just thankful he didn’t ask me to do it.  I hate driving boats.
Lake days are the best days.
Caroline made sure all things were ship shape while we swam!
While we were hoeing one day I snapped this picture.  Tye and I will never forget Myles asking why there were giraffes in the field when he was about 2.  I will never see a grain cart any other way.
We got a pool this summer.  Tye built us an incredible deck and it’s been the best thing for our family.  We have spent every single moment we can out there.  Listening to music, swimming, playing PIG with the basketball hoop and just truly enjoying each other.  SEE, TYE, I told you we NEEDED it. Haha
“Lance, Lance Turtle…Aloha Lance”
One of the Veggies Tales songs my kids used to sing over and over.  The kids named the thing that holds chlorine Lance. Hahaha Never a dull moment around here!
Myles and Rusty boy watching some t.v.
Ryan went to homecoming in Ropes this year with a friend.  We all enjoyed a Friday Night Football game.
We even had friends come down one day and help us hoe!
Our chickens did indeed make a Jack-O-Lantern.  A creepy one but they still did it.
Ryan and Sydney have the best little relationship.  Ryan is so sweet to her and she loves doing projects with him.  Sweet little memories for them to share.
Date night for mom and dad.  We saw Jason Boland at the Cactus Theater.  It was so fun!
Ayden and her sweet friend Maizy.  These two girls are something special!
Janie and Cruz’r have no idea what to think of the pool.  They love watching us swim!  It’s the funniest thing.  They will come from way in the pasture just to watch us.  We are happy to be their entertainment!
This boy isn’t a little boy any more.
Our favorite thing that happened in August was Ayden was baptized at our church in Idalou.  We knew it was coming but didn’t know when.  Our youth minister Scott did a lesson that really moved Ayden to tears and she knew she was ready…right then…that second!  The day your children are born again is a life changing moment for a parent.  We pray that Ayden always walks with our God in step and when she can’t we pray he’ll carry her.  We couldn’t be more happy and proud than in this moment!
Sunsets in west Texas can not be beat.
This little one enjoyed her last summer of freedom.  Haha This was her last summer to only hoe when mom and dad are there.  She did a great job!  I know her siblings will be happy to have the help next year.
Ayden was so tired and we laughed and took a picture like any good parent would do.
Our precious first born turned 13 years old August 13th.  First of all, we can’t believe we have a teenager and second of all we can’t believe how sweet she still is at 13.  Ayden is one of a kind.  That’s just all there is to it.  They don’t come better, sweeter, more obedient, more thoughtful, more almost perfect than her.  She has spoiled us rotten to the point that we thought WE were just doing an amazing job at parenting.  Haha (we know better now!)  We know God made her special and we couldn’t be more thankful to get to raise her.  She will have a good life, she will be a good wife and mother and I know deep down that she will always love God for the rest of her life.  That’s just who she is and will continue to be.  Thirteen years loving Ayden Scarlett with a lifetime to go!
What a beautiful life we get to share together.  Swimming and talking about God painting the sky once again.
She barely complains about hoeing.  SEE, I told you they don’t come better!
I have no idea what Sydney and Spencer were doing but these two have a lot of fun together.
Sydney and her friend Ruby hoeing some weeds!
Poppa and Honey playing Uno in the pool with Myles and Sydney.
Myles was overwhelmed by this Devil Claw.  Hahaha, his face in the picture is priceless.
My beach girl.  Sydney loves the beach and has since her first time going when she was just about to turn two.  My favorite thing is sitting in my beach chair watching her play.
Her favorite thing is to make ice cream and sand cones for everyone.
Goofy boy
This year on Sydney’s birthday we were on our vacation to Port Arkansas with Poppa and Honey.  There is no where else Sydney would have wanted to be than at the beach when she turned 8.  Honey planned a whole little party for Syd on her birthday.  She had cupcakes and the coolest box that she made that popped out butterflies and little presents.  It was so sweet and thoughtful!  We sure love our Honey!
Night walk on the beach looking for ghost crabs.  We found a ton!

Ayden and Ryan buried Myles in the sand.

Myles-“Take my picture and I’m going to act like I’m dead like the skeleton.”
Me-Okay, buddy whatever you want. Hahaha

We went to look at an alligator one day in a natural swamp in Port A.  Kinda freaks me out but I just don’t think about it when I’m swimming.  Haha!  Ayden looked so cute in her hat that day.
Best buds-Ayden and her daddy have a really special relationship.  I just adore them both!
Myles being Myles! Hahaha.  What on Earth would make him think to put shrimp on his fingers like this is beyond me but it made us all laugh.
“A beautiful flower for a beautiful mom.” My Bubby boy!
The beach is the perfect place for flying a kite.  Just the right amount of wind.  Not like at home where it blows 60 miles an hour.
A glorious sight on a summer day!  Thank you, Lord, for the rain!
My own beach bum!

Ayden and Ryan have always been close but it has warmed my heart watching them choose to be friends.  They will depend on each other forever and I am so grateful for that.
Night ride and all four them got stuck in the mud and Tye was wearing sandals.  What FUN memories (said no one ever).
Syd and Honey

Half Dozen Farms has it’s own motorcycle gang.  Don’t come messin’ around our farm.  They’ll git’ cha.
My sweet angel girl turned 8 in September.  Myles asked me the other day why I always call her angel girl because there is no proof of girl angels in the Bible. Hahaha.  Sydney is our Ninners, Ninnie Marr, sister, and baby girl!  She has been since day one.  She’s always been a momma’s girl and still is to this day.  She is so smart, so confident and so independent.  She is loving and cuddly and a sass-a-frass!  We love every single bit of her and love watching her grow up.  She’ll always be the baby in our family which makes her a little spoiled by everyone.
Poppa and Ryan doing what they love at the beach.  Ryan caught a dogfish.  It was incredibly ugly and poisonous.  EWW
Ryan’s second favorite thing to do at the beach.  Snorkel and look for cool shells and crabs.  He’s always been such an inquisitive boy and still is to this day.  He loves to study things and look up facts about all kinds of different things.  He’s a smart boy and amazes me all the time.
Poppa, Honey and their grandkids.
Sydney Marr in her favorite swimsuit.
Surfin’ USA
B and Shell got us all tickets to see the Lion King Broadway show.  It was SO amazing!  We all loved it!
Ryan and Tye watching football on the beach.  Nothing can stop those two!
Poppa doing a little fishing in the surf.
Tye and his bud Scott!  We all love Scott.  He’s helped encourage two of my kids to walk with God as their Savior and he encourages Tye all the time too.  Tye and Scott have a special relationship and it mainly involves slapping each other’s bellies and eating.
This year the crop wasn’t good.  It wasn’t what we hoped for and it didn’t turn out in our favor.  Ayden overheard Tye and I talking about things one day and the next thing we knew she had written her daddy a reminder not to worry.  This sticky note was taped to his bathroom mirror.  Tye read it, cried and said, “We don’t deserve her.”  He’s right we don’t, but I’m sure thankful that we have her to encourage us when we badly needed a reminder of who is in charge of our lives.

Matthew 6:34- “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Post Stampede Rodeo
We had a combined birthday for Myles and Sydney at the end of August.  It was a great swim party and there was so much to celebrate!  We love the “littles” and are so thankful they take up the rear in our family.
Our favorite restaurant in Port Arkansas with Poppa and Honey.  It will always be our go to on vacation!
The kids made a sand castle war.  Boys on one side and girls on the other.  There were quite a few sand balls thrown.  Such funny memories!
Sydney buried her best bud Myles.  These two are such good friends.  They will always depend on each other and I’m thankful for that.
Moby Dicks for Sydney’s birthday lunch.  Don’t let this girl fool you…she ordered mac and cheese for lunch.
More lake days with our favorite boy, Rusty.
The boys went camping a few times the last couple months in the pasture.  They love to take their tent and just be boys.  The first time they left with three eggs and two bottles of water.  About 11:00 that night I was worried they were hungry so Tye and I snuck over to them in the four wheeler to deliver some sandwiches.  As we sat there listening to them laugh and joke around I cried.  What a childhood they are living and have absolutely no idea how wonderful it is.  I pray someday they look back at these memories and it brings love and joy to their adult lives.
What else are a bunch of Aggies going to write in the sand?
Poppa and Honey left and we stayed about three more days.  We told the kids we had a surprise for them one night.  We took our propane fire pit to the beach and had hotdogs and s’mores.  It was wonderful.  Sand, mustard, wieners, sand, marshmallows, chocolate and more sand.  Pretty sure I crunched on sand for a bit of time after Myles made me his WORLD famous S’more.

It was the best meal I’ve ever had.
We had a great time with the best Poppa and Honey.  The love and enjoyment of one another is mutual and that makes it so easy to be together.
Tye and his chickens…whatever he wants is fine.  I don’t really pretend to understand because I sure don’t want to hold that thing.  It’s not soft…or cuddly.
We went to At’L Do Farms again this year with B and Shell and had a great time.  These cousins did the big maze this year.

We carved Jack-O-Lanterns again this year with Poppa and Honey.  The kids mostly did it all by themselves.
Kam Kam and Myles
Trunk or Treat at church was so fun!  We ended up having to do it inside because snow was predicted for that day and it was so cold.  We did a Ghostbusters trunk and had so much fun with friends.

Myles and his good friend Baylee
Honey’s Halloween party is always a highlight in October for us.  Honey loves Halloween, probably more than the average person, and we just love this holiday for her!  She always makes it special for the kids.
“Who you gonna call…Ghostbusters!”
We’ve been going to the corn maze with our Blevins family since 2011.  It’s a tradition that I hope we never stop doing.  I hope one day when the kids are grown and gone Link, Monica, Tye and me are pushing our walkers through the Fairy Tale maze.  Because lets get real by that point we won’t be able to make it any further than that!
\
Myles kills me in this picture. Hahahaha.  His character always has a cigarette and Tye made him one out of paper.  He took the role very seriously.
Once again, I’m so thankful for the last three months of life.  They were good, they were peaceful and they were easy.  I often look around and don’t see the same things happening and I just want to remind my self to never take any of it for granted.  I’m thankful…and if something changes tomorrow I can always have these months.  They were good, they were fun and I’m thankful.
