A letter to my 7 year old

Today is your day.  Today is the day that you our first born baby changed our world forever.  Today, not yet, but at 10:26 tonight you little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes entered this world and made it better.  The moment you were born even before I held you I loved you.  I didn't know then but I know now that love can grow.  I love you more now than I did that first moment I saw you.

The first year of your life was a whirl wind.  It flew by so quickly as me and Daddy enjoyed every moment and every new adventure with you.  You became a big sister when you were 18 months old.  You showed us then a piece of your heart we hadn't met yet.  You became a big, big sister at 3 years old.  You showed us then another piece of you that we hadn't met yet.  Then again at 5 you became a big, big big sister to a baby girl you had hoped and prayed for the entire time Momma was pregnant.  Your siblings are lucky but really more than that; they are blessed to have you.  You are such a wonderful leader and friend.  When Ryan was born you showed us that you could love and share.  You would share everything with him.  Cookies, toys, books, what was yours was his.  You called him Bubby and today you still give him his way.  You will give him the toy, the last cookie just so he will have one or just to make him happy.
The minute Myles was born he was YOUR baby.  You called him your baby.  He is still your baby.  You showed us how mothering you could be.  You can handle most any situation that you are given.  You are going to be a fantastic mother someday.  I know this because I see you take care of Myles.  You love on him when he needs it and you get on to him when you think he needs it.  That's exactly what Momma's are suppose to do.
The entire time I was pregnant with Sydney you hoped it would be a girl.  You wanted a sister.  As a matter of fact you said "if we have another boy it could be a disaster."  When she was born I think you knew I needed help.  You know when you need to take Sydney for a dance party or to play babies.  You know when I need you to help me stir things or crack eggs.  You know when I need you to pick up toys or feed the cat.  You help me all the time and the truth is I would be lost without you!  You don't understand now how much you helped me but someday you will.  I couldn't be more thankful that Sydney has you as her big sister.  She couldn't have a better role model.

And now sweet girl here we are on your 7th birthday.  I don't know how I'm so blessed to have you as my daughter.  You are a perfect child.  Do you always act perfect..no..no one does.  Do you always respond perfect..no..no one does.  But you my child are headed in the perfect direction.  You listen to Daddy and I.  You listen to your grandparents and aunts and great aunts.  You listen to your teachers at school and at church.  You hear what we are saying and you let it sink into your heart.  Daddy and I see you growing.  We see you growing and longing for Christ and that my sweet girl is who will make you perfect.  We are so proud of you.  We are so thankful that you are ours.  This is YOUR special day.  We can't wait to keep celebrating you today and the rest of your life!
Happy Birthday Aydee Bug!  We love you more than you will ever know!
