I'm just now getting a chance to sit down, get my pictures loaded and do a blog post. We have had the best Christmas. I think I could go through every Christmas blog with the exception of one year when everyone had the flu and see that I wrote "this has been the best Christmas ever" but this really has been such a wonderful Christmas. As my babies get older they bring so much joy and happiness to every day and especially the holidays.
They did a Christmas program at school and all three kids did wonderful. Myles was really nervous because it was his first performance. Ryan just wanted to get it over with and Ayden is a pro at this point. We have talked about Jesus being born and how it might have been for Mary and Joseph back then. We have sang Christmas songs of all kinds, seen Santa Claus, had visits from our elf Noni every night but most importantly we have shown others Jesus. It's so important to talk about his life from beginning to end and we do it a lot. Tye and I think that it's also important to show others with our actions his love and we are trying to teach our children that. We have bought gifts for OCC and helped pack boxes for the children who are receiving them. We bought Toys for Tots and allowed the kids to pick new stuff from a store they like and while doing it we talked about how many children don't have the things they do and the opportunities they have. Ayden and I went with her school and decorate a hall and nurses station at the hospital for Christmas. Ayden and Ryan both have sang and visited two different nursing homes. They get so much out of that. Ryan told me that an older lady hugged him a bunch and Ayden said "they always hug me and sometimes I don't want to but I know it makes them happy so I hug them back." That statement makes me so happy because those kind of opportunities push my shy child out of her comfort zone and allows her to learn compassion.
With all this being said I have to say one more thing...Tye and I try so hard to teach our children but in the process our hearts are growing too. To see my kids show others Jesus makes me want to do better and be better. It's all such a wonderful circle that I hope continues forever.
Sydney checking out her gifts at B and Shell's Christmas.
Writing letters for Noni to take back to the North Pole.
We got special paper that you bake and it makes it very tiny. We wanted to be sure that Noni could carry all four letters!
Honey bought Santa hats for the kids and I think Myles and Ryan wore theirs for three days. They thought they looked like elves. Ryan changed his name to Zart and Myles changed his to Chippey.
Christmas Eve before heading to church.
The Massey Christmas was at our house. This year was a blast with such a sad undertone. This was our first Christmas without Mamaw and our first Christmas without both of my grandparents. We all miss her and Papaw terribly. She would have been so happy to see her kids, grandkids and great grandkids happy and carrying on the traditions that her and Papaw made. We love them and miss them and there will always be a hole without them here. I'm just thankful that I had them for grandparents. They were the best.
Myles patiently waiting at Poppa and Honey's Christmas to open his presents.
Four little angels!
Honey made Sydney a Peppa Pig sleep mat. She was SO excited to have it. She slept on it for three days after this because she loved it so much. We did finally get her to move back to her regular bed!
Christmas Eve putting out milk and cookies. The kids made Christmas cookies with Shell and wanted to put those out for Santa. He got lots of sprinkles! Spencer brought the carrots for the reindeer. Spencer, Kenzie and Kambry spent the night with us and then both sets of grandparents always come over for Santa the next morning.
To celebrate the new year Poppa and Honey are coming over for supper and games! This holiday season couldn't have been any better. We had a wonderful 2017 and are ready to see what 2018 brings! My hope is that we can all grow closer to the one who made it all and praise him always!
Happy New Year!
