I had the best trip to New York! I still can't believe that I went and it honestly still feels like a dream! It was such a neat, strange place. I can't believe that we all live in America but our lives can be so different from New York to Texas. I didn't get there until Friday. Kam and Mandy had already spent two days there and went to the 911 Memorial Museum. They said it was amazing, heart wrenching and such a sobering experience. We did go to the site and park where the Twin Towers stood and it was so quiet. In the middle of a bustling city it was peaceful. It was so amazing to stand where my life and so many others changed September 11, 2001. This is such a neat way to honor so many who lost their lives.
Next, we went to the Brooklyn Bridge. It was so BIG and really neat. We got to walked nearly to the middle of the bridge and look out over the water.
That's a FUN group of gals right there!!
Also, a BIG thanks to Mandy. Without her this trip wouldn't have been possible. I just love her so much!
She's not only my sister in law but she's my friend.
Love me some Kam Kam!
We got one of those peddy-cabs (side note: we called them penny cabs until we looked it up, haha) and he pedaled us around Central Park. I was not only impressed by how big and beautiful Central Park is but I was super impressed by this man's leg muscles!
Just beautiful! This bridge has been in a ton of movies.
Minskoff Theatre
THIS was by far my most favorite thing of the trip. We saw the Lion King on Broadway and it was the most AMAZING thing I've ever seen. I think I even teared up at the beginning. I sat and smiled like a little kid the entire show. When it was over I couldn't get over how awesome it was and still can't. If I ever get a chance to take the kids to this I would do it in a heart beat.
Times Square was big and bright and crowded. I went, I saw and I conquered!
The New York Public Library was really cool. It was so big and had the neatest architecture and paintings. The ceilings were so intricate and detailed. It was all just so beautiful.
Ellis Island tour was the next day. This day was long and hot. We did a ton of walking but I wouldn't have changed it. We saw so many historical things and I loved it all.
Just three ladies enjoying the cool of New York air, not having a clue Texas heat was coming to town.
Boats cruised all day on the Hudson.
STATUE OF LIBERTY
I still can't believe I saw this! We talked to a man that has lived in New York his whole life and had never been up close to Lady Liberty. We've learned about her our whole life and it's something I've always wanted to see. She was big, she was beautiful and she was worth the day spent walking.
Ellis Island
This picture was taken inside the building that so many immigrants sat and awaited their fate. These immigrants are who made American the melting pot that it is and it was a very humbling experience reading and learning what they had to go through to get to live in the greatest country in the world.
Frozen Hot Chocolate from Serendipity. YES, it was as amazing as it sounds.
LOOK how many buildings there are in such a tiny space! This was taken at the top of the Empire State building. It really does have it's own kind of beauty!
I really liked the Empire State building tour. We went all the way up to the 89 floor. That's definitely as high as I've ever been. Also, one of my favorite all time movies is Sleepless in Seattle and this building is where Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan finally get together!
The American Museum of Natural History was really neat to see. I've been to so many museums in my life and I'm glad I got to add this one to the list.
I sent Tye so many pictures to show the kids. They would have loved all the dinosaur bones and animals.
Last night in New York. Kambry took this picture and it's just a really cool picture. You can see Freedom Tower, the Brooklyn Bride and it you squint the Statue of Liberty.
Until next time NYC!
As wonderful of a trip as it was I was happy to be home to my world. It's safe to say they loved their souvenirs. Isn't she the cutest "the Statue of the Liverty" that you have ever seen?!
