January, February, March and April- 2023

It seems this year has totally gotten away from me.  Four months into 2023 and I haven’t done a single blog post.  OOPS!  I picked a few of my favorite pictures of each month.  These last four months have been wonderful for our family.  We’ve gone on some adventures, had our fair share of sickness, played outside, worked on school, and most importantly we have tried to be very intentional about our time together.  On one of those rare beautiful non-windy spring days we have in West Texas, Tye and I were sitting on the patio watching the kids jump on the trampoline.  It truly hit me in that moment that they are growing up so, so fast.  No one has chubby little cheeks, no one gets rocked to sleep, no one truly NEEDS me to do much for them anymore.  While watching them grow is so beautiful and fun, my heart aches for this time.  Their childhood is so fleeting.  Life is so fleeting.  In 2023, my goal, our goal is to enjoy and find the beauty in all the moments…even the crazy hectic ones.

Myles and Ellie hanging out while Daddy put up Mandy’s new t.v.

It snowed a little in January.  We will take all the snow, as much or as little as God chooses to send.  Sydney built a little miniature snowman.  It was so cute!
We got to go to Cloudcroft with B and Shell.  Mim and Gradaddy, Kam and Koda, and Kenzie and Spencer got to go too!  It was a great trip.  We tubed, sledded, and played lots of ping-pong.  We are thankful for our time together.
The kids also got to go ice skating.  They did pretty good and were lots of fun to watch!
Kam and Ayden- Besties from way back
My littlest snow bunny!  Syd is such a fashionista.
Ayden got braces!  The brace race is ONNNN!  Who will get theirs off first?  Only time will tell!
We went hunting so many times trying to get Ayden her first deer.  I think the early mornings and late nights caught up with Daddy.
Myles built a snowman too!  He even used his pipe from an old Halloween costume.
The floor right in front of the fire is our favorite place to take a nap!
We completely surprised the kids and took them to the Super Mario Movie.  It was really cute.
Sydney started playing the Ukulele.  She takes from the same instructor that teaches Ryan guitar.  He’s wonderful and an awesome music teacher.
Tye and I got to go to Washington D.C. for a several days.  We had a Farm Bureau National Affairs conference.  We went a couple days early to spend some time together.  It was much needed and so fun.  We owe Poppa and Honey and B and Shell a big thank you for keeping the kiddos while we were gone.
Ayden and B playing Wahoo during Ayden’s kid lunch.  So glad my kids get to spend some one on one time with their grandparents.
Me: What do you think about when you look at the sky?
Myles: God
Me: Me too, Buddy.
Sydney Marr, you are suppose to be IN the treehouse not UNDER it.  Silly girl
Back porch sittin’ on a windy day.  There is still no place I’d rather be.
Sydney got her ears pierced.  She was a CHAMP!  She immediately looked older.
Arlington Cemetery made me tear up several times.  What an incredible sight to see.  So many lives lost to save us, to preserve our freedoms.  THIS is why you take off your cap, stand up, put your hand on your heart and sing during the National Anthem.  Anything else is incredibly disrespectful to these men and so many others.
We got to spend a few days in Ruidoso for our Spring Break.  We went a week later than everyone else because we can, HA!  It wasn’t crowded at all!  We stayed with Doug and BB and had the best time.  One afternoon we went to the Petroglyphs and walked around for several hours.  It was a neat little hike.
The White House
Even if we don’t like the person in it, we respect the role it serves for our country.
The Tomb of the Unknown soldier was amazing.  During the wreath ceremony they were honoring a fallen soldier.  The did a full military ceremony which we had never seen before.  Again, I couldn’t keep my eyes dry!
Pickle ball is our new family game.  We played so many times in Ruidoso.
On the last day of our church ski trip Myles got really sick.  Bless his little heart!  We left a day early and his big sister took care of him in the backseat the entire way home.  She has the purest heart of anyone I know.  I love her.
We spent the entire day at the Capitol talking to Senate and House members about agriculture.  We met the director of the EPA and while I’m totally not a fan I hope that he got a small glimpse into our lives.  We even got to walk in the underground tunnel from the House of Representatives side to the Senate side.  It was really cool.  My feet were killing me by the end of the day so I really hope those “goobers” that we talked to took what we had to say to heart.
Ayden being silly during a break in the Bible Bowl competition.  She’s a senior level so she had to answer 100 questions!
Ayden turns 13 years old this year.  THIRTEEN, WHAT?!  I can’t believe it.  All she wanted for her birthday was to go to a Lainey Wilson/Luke Combs concert.  The tickets were outrageous but after talking to B and Shell and Poppa and Honey, we all made it happen.  We surprised her with tickets and she couldn’t believe it.  Tye and I got to spend two days with just her.  I couldn’t ask for a better daughter.  I wish I could give her the ability to see herself how her Daddy and I see her.  She is wonderful daughter of the KING!  Being her momma is the easiest thing I’ve ever done.
LTC was great this year.  It was our first year as coordinators and I must say I was pretty nervous to take on the task.  It went well and I already can’t wait for next year.
Sydney reading to her chick, Linda.
We took an afternoon tour of Mount Vernon.  We bought Myles a bugle from the gift shop.  I think we lost our minds for a minute and now it’s too late. Hahaha
Rusty’s ears hurt too!
The boys playing a little pool at the bowling alley.
These three participated in some 4-H stuff over Spring Break.  They did a food challenge one day and a sewing day the next.  They sewed their own toiletry bags.
Ayden signing during LTC. She signed the song There’s a Sweet Sweet Spirit.
We went on a four wheeler ride and the boys decided to walk home.
Poppa and Honey took Ryan, Myles and Sydney to the circus while we went to the concert.  Myles and Syd got their faces painted.
Myles and his duck, Speedy.  Speedy got his name because during the duck races (yes, they had actual races with a start and finish line) Speedy won every single time!  Fast little duck
Sydney and her chick, Shadow
Daddy and his boy skiing.
The kids wanted the ducks to go for a little swim.  Rusty really loved to watch them swim around the tub.
Beth and I before LTC started…
This was an excellent concert!  I really like Luke and Lainey.
Happy Easter- Our savior is risen!  This day sets Christianity apart from all other religions.  We serve a living GOD!
BB and Ryan
Ryan turned 11 in February.  We celebrated at our house with family and then headed over to the shooting range for some fun.  It was a perfect sunny February day.  Ryan is growing up to be the best young man.  He is going to serve God and his family someday and we couldn’t be more proud and honored to watch.
Just a little backyard dancin’
Practicing with her new left-handed shotgun.  It’s made all the difference for her.
Ayden helping Mim and Grandaddy tack a quilt that Mim has been working on.  I love that Ayden will always have these memories.
Sydney isn’t quite old enough to be in 4-H but she is a Clover Kid.  She got to participate in cooking and sewing too.  She made a mug cake and a tooth fairy pillow.  She did a great job!  She got to test out her new pillow about a week later.  It surely does work.  The tooth fairy left her three dollars!
Supper in Lubbock and I got to sit by Myles.  He said he wanted to take a picture because it was a good end to a good day.  I’ll never pass that up!
Her brothers tied her to the ladder and drew a mustache and beard on her face.  What sweet loving brothers this poor little girl has!
Ryan and Myles both participated in speech during LTC.  They both did an incredible job.  Ryan was ask to do his speech during worship on Sunday morning in front of about 1000 people.  Again, we were so proud of him.  He’s a great kid and spreading the word of Jesus through his talent of writing.
Kam and Myles
We got to see the Easterling family during LTC.  They are some of our oldest friends.  We can always just pick right up where we left off when we get together.  I love them and am so thankful for their friendship.
Beth and I after LTC…We did it!!
This four months at a time business is not my intention this year but I can’t make any promises.  Haha
