November and December

November and December was full of busy memories.  We got to see lots of family, spend quiet days at home, go on a couple adventures and take turns getting sick.  It is such a blessing for me to me able to blog about our days.  When you are living in the moment sometimes you forget to see the little things.  The littlest details that make up life are usually the biggest ones looking back.  It feels like it was such a looong couple months with all the holiday activities and sickness, but at the same time it flew by so quickly.  Life tends to do that to you and I’ve just decided to buckle up and enjoy the ride!

A few days off from school means Calico Critters.  If you don’t know what these are do yourself a favor and look them up.  Ayden and Sydney have been collecting these for years and they are so CUTE and so FUN!  They took over part of the living room and played for days.  Don’t let the boys fool you, they love to play too.  This was the “kids” table at the family feast.

Ayden and Sydney helping me with laundry.  Laundry for 6 people is a never ending task.  I’m always thankful for the help.
We had family pictures made and once again Whitney knocked it out of the park!  She’s taken our pictures our entire marriage and I hope she never stops!

Also, Ayden is growing up and it hurts so much.  She’ll always be my first baby though.  I love her more than she can fathom!
Tye’s been doing some carpentry work at LCU the last couple months.  He’s building display cases for the Bible department.  We’ve spent many hours there but the kids didn’t mind.  They would do their schoolwork and then play hide and seek in the creepy upstairs part of the building.

So many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.  The biggest blessings in my life are in this picture.  As long as we have each other, we have everything.
We disguised turkeys this year.  The kids love doing this and I will say everyone was so creative.

Ayden’s turkey
Our family being on our best behavior…
Our birthdays are one day apart which means I’ve celebrated my birthday with my dad my entire life.  I wouldn’t want it any other way.  He’s always been a great dad and now he’s a great friend.
B and Shell gave Myles a trip to the zoo for his birthday.  They got to go to the Abilene Zoo.  Myles loves animals and I know loved even more spending the day with B and Shell all by himself!
My best friend.  I treasure this guy so very much!

Myles’s turkey
Sweet Ryan man.  He’s changed so much in a year.
My girls
Sydney being goofy like always!  She is such a ball of sweet mixed in with a little sass.  She hasn’t changed since the day she was born and I hope she never does!

My boys
They have been taking this picture for years.  Wonder how many more years Tye will be able to hold them.
More fun at the zoo.
Calico Critter Thanksgiving feast!  So stinkin’ CUTE!
Sydney got the stomach bug two months in a row.  Bless her heart!  This is the sickest she has ever been and I must say it was rough.  Still though, what a blessing to not get really sick until you’re 7 years old.
Tye knows the way to my heart.  Coconut unsweetened tea as big as my head!
Menchie date with these two.  Ayden and Ryan went to a youth event so we got to spend a little time alone with Myles and Syd.  They are so precious to me.
Cheesecake Factory for my birthday.  What a fun surprise!
My sweet Sydney Marr Mason
Sydney’s turkey
Myles got a haircut by someone other than me. Haha
He looked incredibly handsome and instantly older.
Sydney and her pal, Boone!  She won’t be able to pick him up much longer.
Ayden and Maizy are such sweet friends.  I prayed for a friend like Maizy for Ayden and God answered those prayers.
Ryan’s turkey
God painted the sky with such incredible colors this night.  To imagine that Heaven will be more beautiful is truly mind blowing.
What our family really looks like!
Mylesy Lew you are my breath of fresh air!
Daddy and his pal, Rusty.  Rusty really wishes he could have a bite.
We took the kids to Fort Worth for a couple days.  We did Christmas things, went to the zoo and spent entirely too much money at Bass Pro Shop.
Ryan’s turn to take a breathing treatment.  We passed this thing around for about 2 weeks.
SANTA, SANTA, HO HO HO
Gingerbread houses with Poppa and Honey.  Sydney’s had to be just perfect and Poppa had all the patience for it.

Deer Season is always fun and exhausting!
These two were the only two not sick.  They found ways to entertain themselves though.
Nintendo playing with Poppa and Honey.
Myles and Gus liked staring at each other.  Myles has a big heart for Gorillas.
Taking a break from the hard life they live and relaxing a bit.  Hahaha

Nonnie, the elf

Mason cousins at Christmas
Myles and Honey struggling with their Gingerbread house. Haha

Myles was so patient waiting on his buck.
Ryan had a Christmas showcase.  He sang and played “Let it be Christmas” by Alan Jackson.  He did an amazing job and I couldn’t be more proud of his hard work in getting there.
Watching Ayden sew and contemplating dying from the bronchitis that wouldn’t go away for 3 weeks.
Mom and dad having fun with Ayden.

We took the girls pigs to the sale and they were super sad.  Tears were shed but that’s just part of growing up on a farm.  They have so much love for their farm animals.
Momma and Daddy with our baby girl.
Ayden made Kambry a quilt for Christmas.  She did a great job.  She spent a lot of time sewing with her great-grandmother, Mim, and I know those memories are more special than anything.
He got him!  Myles shot his first deer this year.  He got an 8-point buck.  He was so happy and we were so proud.
Ayden and Riley have been friends since birth.  We love Riley and her family.  So thankful for friends we get to do life with.

B and Shell got Sydney an American girl doll for Christmas.  She loves her.
Post Parade and cousin Eddie himself!
Alligator attack!
I will look over one day and miss little toes warming by the fireplace.

Alan Jackson’s greatest hits record.  Ryan was so excited!
My spot after the kids go to bed!
Ryan and a bald eagle.  He’s always loved Eagles and was pumped that it was looking at him and so close!
Completely dangerous but oh so cute!

Kam Kam loved her quilt!
More sweet, sweet friends.  Sydney and Baylee.  The Landis family is a blessing to us.

Sickness means hours of sitting and rocking.  I hate the sickness but I’ll always enjoy the rocking!
Potato, Tomato and Onion soup was a “cure-all” according to my Papaw.  It always makes me feel better and brings a smile to my face.  I loved my grandparents so very much and wish they were here to see my kids grow up.  Telling stories, memories and sharing recipes will have to do and that’s okay because I have lots of them!
Poppa and Honey got Ryan a pocket Bible and he was so excited.  He took it to a youth retreat last weekend and said it was the best thing.
Sick, sick Tye.
Sick, sick Sydney

Ayden wanted the game Life for Christmas.  She and Sydney played it last night with B and Shell.
Sick, sick, Ryan
Honey always has the best games to play with the kids.  She wrapped a bunch of knick-knacks up in a big ball of plastic wrap.  The kids had to unwrap it with oven mitts on their hands.  It was very entertaining to watch.
Myles got a “practice” butterfly knife for Christmas.  He was doing all kinds of tricks and I’m just thankful it was a practice knife. Haha

Ryan doing some cleaning for Poppa and Honey.  Honey paid him way to much to dust!
Grandaddy’s birthday with all the Mason great-grandkids.
Ruby and Sydney are besties and I hope that never changes.
Honey paid Sydney way to much to sweep!
Ayden hunting day after day to get her deer.  She never got one but there is always next year!
Massey Christmas in Abilene this year.  We always have so much fun together!

We got to see our friends the Blevins.  They showed us their 3-D thing, I can’t remember what it’s called.  It was so crazy!  Once again, thankful for life long friendships!

Myles and Janie
B and Shell took the grandkids to Abilene for a couple days.  They went to a light display and had the BEST time.  I’m so thankful for grandparents who want to spend time with their grandkids.  It’s such a blessing to them and to us.

We love B and Shell so much!

That’s a wrap for 2022.  It was a great year for family time…not so much for Tye and his crop though.  I just kept reminding him that although he didn’t have a crop we got to spend lots of time together.  Praying for health, safely, spiritual growth and rain next year!!  Here comes 2023!
